Ladies and Gentlemen, please take five.
3 03 2008What is it about this city? Every where I go, I hear Paul Desmond’s song “Take Five”. First it was just on the side walk played by a man with a saxophone, then in the subway by a man with a trumpet, then again on the subway by another saxophonist, then finally in the hotel lobby. Lastly, while I was humming the catchy tune on the subway I boarded the F train and the first thing I saw when I sat down was a sign that said “TAKE 5″. I find it ironic that in such a busy city, the message to sit down and take five minutes to relax and enjoy the music is everywhere. The following is the youtube video for “Take Five” as performed by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

haha Lucia thats crazy. I love when things like that happen. I find it ironic as well- that in the chaos of the city the way to keep sane is taking 5 minutes. I think its also funny cause it sounds like the stage manager of the city.
I feel this is a necessary reminder for people in this city to just sit back for at least 5 minutes out of their hectic and fast-paced days. I know that this city has molded me into a faster person in just 5 days. I walk so fast now… But luckily I’m taking 5 right now… more like 50 actually
